Girls’ Weekend Guide to Martha’s Vineyard

If you follow along on Instagram, you may have seen my weekend getaway to Martha’s Vineyard with my sweet mama two weekends ago. Before life gets the best of me, I wanted to do a little post about all the fun things we got to do in our three days. We totally lucked out with beautiful weather {ya never know with New England, even if it’s June}, and even though we only explored Edgartown {one of the three main “towns” on MV} it was the best trip. If the Vineyard has been on your bucket list, don’t keep saying “one day”… pack your bags, and get on that plane, train, or automobile.. well and ferry boat, and come see this magical island ASAP!

Day 1: We made our way to the island by taking the 10:30 am Island Queen boat. It’s a quick 30 minute ride and they serve mimosas… so WIN-WIN! If you are going to MV for a week, you’ll definitely want to bring your car so you can explore the whole island, but for a weekend trip, there are plenty of taxis and a great bus system to get you around. We taxied our way to Edgartown (quick 10 minute ride), and checked into the Vineyard Square Hotel.

Our room was not quiet ready, but we left our bags with the very friendly staff, grabbed two bikes {this may have been my favorite part about the hotel, you can use their bikes anytime} and decided to ride down to Bend in the Road State Beach. We stopped at Edgartown Meat & Fish to grab some delicious wraps for the beach, and then we relaxed and listened to the gentle waves crash.

We headed back to the hotel and enjoyed some bubbly {courtesy of my sweet dad} and some goodies left in lovely gift baskets from local businesses {Chappy Happy, Bunch of Grapes, and even a few autographed books by Crispin Haskins}.

We then strolled our way down the picturesque Main Street to our amazing dinner at Lucky Hanks. This little place is so quaint and open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A bottle of rosé, some yummy apps {the fishcake appetizer was fantastic} and our entrées made for the perfect meal.

Day 2: We started off our morning at Evolve, taking a mat Pilates class. The studio was airy and clean, our instructor had great energy, and my core hurt for a couple of days afterwards! After our class we stopped at Edgartown Diner to grab some breakfast {this place is right on Main Street and it was like stepping back in time}. Then to the beach we went.

Since our hotel was so centrally located, we decided to just grab our towels and walk down to the Edgartown Lighthouse Beach. While watching all the sailboats go by, I may or may not have snoozed a bit. That’s what beach days are all about, right?

After the beach, we grabbed our bikes, and rode them down to South Beach to watch the giant waves crash. On our way back, we stopped at the Katama General Store, because a little birdy told me they had the BEST lobster rolls around. They were right. These were ‘melt-in-your-mouth-sweet-scrumptious-lobster-rolls’. We chatted with the very sweet owner Jackie and she even gave us some Greek energy bars for our bike ride back!

That evening, before getting all dressed up, my mom and I got some pedis at Sea Spa Salon , best part is that they were right next to our hotel!

Then we glammed up, called a cab, and decided to head “up-island” to the very charming Lambert’s Cove Inn. The new owners have made this Inn even more beautiful than it was. The dining room was elegant and bright, our service was outstanding, and our meal was superb {my scallops were to die for!}

Day 3: On our last day on the Vineyard, we decided to stroll around picturesque Edgartown, browse some local shops, grab some ice cream, and watch the Chappy Ferry glide back and forth.

Of course we couldn’t end the day until we grabbed some rosé {hey that rhymed} at the Harborview Hotel while enjoying the view of Edgartown harbor from the rocking chairs.

Before heading home, we stopped at Espresso Love, for a light lunch, and some much needed coffee, and back to the main land we went.

Our whole weekend was nothing short of perfect, and I’m so grateful to the many local businesses who treated us like family! This island has always had my heart {I’ve been coming here every summer since I was 13 years old} but it never gets old, it only gets more magical.
